Hifz Teachers


Mawlānā Adnaan Waseem was born and grew up in upstate New York and started his journey of seeking sacred knowledge at the age of 12. He completed the memorization of the Quran under the tutelage of various ʿUlamā, including Mawlānā Sufiyan Chappra and Mawlānā Suhail Irfan. He later enrolled at Darul Uloom Al-Madania, Buffalo, NY, completing a formal ʿĀlimiyyah Degree, studying Arabic, Sīrah, Fiqh, Ḥadīth, and Tafsīr. While studying Mawlānā Adnaan also led the tarāwīh salat in various places in the month of Ramaḍān, such as Maine, Florida, Arizona. Wisconsin, and New York. In 2009, Mawlānā Adnaan graduated and began serving as a teacher and Imam in the Chicagoland area.  He has mentored over 20 Ḥuffāẓ and is currently pursuing his ijāza in the Ḥafs Qirāʿah under Mawlānā Qārī Arif Kamal. Mawlānā Adnaan joined MSI in 2013 as the head taḥfīẓ teacher, and currently teaches full-time and part-time ḥifz. He lives in Bloomingdale, IL with his wife and 3 children.


ʿĀlima Ayesha Fatima Yousuf completed the memorization of the Qur’an in 1998 from Ma’arif al-Quran, Karachi, Pakistan. She also completed a formal ʿĀlimiyyah Degree from Jamia Siddiquia, Karachi Pakistan, studying Arabic, Fiqh, Sīrah, Ḥadīth, and tafsīr. ʿĀlima Ayesha has more than 15 years of teaching experience in Islamic studies and Quran Ḥifẓ. She started her teaching career by imparting home based tuitions to children in 2002. She served as a full-time Qur’an Taḥfīẓ teacher. In 2014, she worked as a Kindergarten teacher in Malaysia. From 2015-2018, she worked at Al-Huda Academy, Chicago, serving several roles such as assistant Kindergarten teacher, assistant Arabic teacher, Summer camp supervisor, library media, and Physical Education teacher. In addition to teaching, she assisted in school publications, arranging and participating in cultural events, and arranging field trips. In 2018, ʿĀlima Ayesha joined the team of teachers at MSI Masjid to teach the newly established full-time Girls’ Taḥfīẓ program. She delivers excellent teaching by concentration on individual goals, allowing the students to maximize their potential. She also teachers the Islamic studies to the full-time ḥifẓ girls.


ʿĀlima Rubya Uddin completed her memorization of the Quran from Madrasah Anwaarul Quran in 2002. She also completed a formal ʿĀlimiyyah Degree from Madrasah Sawdah lil Banaat, Pakistan, in 2006. After graduating, ʿĀlima Rubya Uddin taught the ʿĀlimiyyah course with a focus on Ḥadīth and Lugha at Madrasah Asḥāb-e-Badr in Pakistan from 2007-2009. At the same time, she taught taḥfīz of the Quran at Darul Uloom Rahmania, Pakistan. Currently, she is the Part-Time Hifz Teacher at MSI.

MAKTAB Teachers


Ḥāfiẓ Tahir Dawood was born and raised in the Glendale Heights community. He enrolled in the Taḥfīẓ program at the Institute of Islamic Education in Elgin, IL at the tender age of eight. He went on to complete the memorization of Qur’an privately at the age of eleven. Ḥāfiẓ Tahir attended the College Prep School of America graduating in 2007. He has been leading prayers and teaching Qur’an recitation and memorization in the Chicagoland area for the past ten years. Since 2013, he has been serving as an Imam at MSI. He also teaches in the MSI After-School Maktab program and serves as the examiner for the MSI Taḥfīẓ program.


Ḥāfiẓ Faraz Abdul Moid completed Hifz at the Institute of Islamic Education. After high school, he attended Saint Louis University in Missouri, and thereafter the University of Illinois at Chicago from where he graduated. Thereafter he worked as an educator, in addition to instructing Hifz at the Sacred Learning Hifz program. In 2015, he enrolled as a full-time student to pursue higher Islamic sciences at DarusSalam Foundation, Lombard, IL, where he studied Arabic grammar, literature, Quran translation, Ḥadīth, Fiqh, Urdu, and earned an ijāza in the Ḥafs Qirāʿah. He then transferred to Darul Qasim, Glendale Heights, IL, where he is currently continuing his education. Hafiz Faraz joined MSI Masjid in 2018 as an after-school Quran and Islamic studies teacher.


Syed Shahzain has been enrolled in Islamic Schools throughout his elementary, middle and high school education, where he studied Quran and Islamic studies along with normal secular education. During his time in middle school, he was enrolled in the taḥfīẓ program at Annoor Academy, NJ, where he memorized 20 juz of the Quran under Qārī Rifaqat. After moving to Chicagoland, graduating high school from CPSA, Shahzain enrolled in the 1-year program at DarusSalam to study Fiqh, Sīrah, ʿAqīda and the Arabic language. Shahzain joined MSI in 2017 as an after-school Quran and Islamic studies teacher, as well as a teacher for the MSI Summer Program. She is also currently studying tajwīd under Mawlānā Qārī Arif Kamal of Darul Qasim.


Ḥāfiẓa Aisha Wahid completed her memorization of the Quran in 2010 from Jamia-ul-Suffah under the tutelage of Qārī Abdul Mannan. In addition to her religious studies, Ḥāfiẓa Aisha is a licensed MRI Technician and is pursuing further studies in the field of Elementary Education. She began formally teaching the Islamic studies in 2011 when she took on a teaching role at ICC Full-Time School and later moved into a similar role at ILM Montessori. Ḥāfiẓa Aisha joined MSI in 2017 as an after-school Quran and Islamic studies teacher, as well as a teacher for the MSI Summer Program. She also currently enrolled in an ijāza program in the Ḥafs Qirāʿah under Mawlānā Qārī Arif Kamal. She resides in the suburbs of Chicago with her family. 


Ḥāfiẓa Bushra Alvi completed her ḥifẓ in 2014 and is currently working towards an ijazah in Ḥafs Qirāʿah under Mawlānā Qārī Arif Kamal. Ḥāfiza Bushra is also enrolled as a student at Darul Qasim’s Intermediate Islamic Studies Program. She has taught children in various maktab and summer school programs in Texas. In 2017, she joined MSI as a teacher for the after-school Maktab Program and also teaches the MSI Summer Program.
