Full Time Hifz

MSI Hifz Program is a year-round private education dedicated to produce competent protectors (huffaz) of the Gracious Qur’an.  For the first time, MSI is now starting a Full Time Hifz Program for girls. The program strongly concentrates on both memorization with proper tajwid and retention of memorized portions. Students are prepared under experienced teachers who have memorized the Qur’an themselves and have a passion to teach the Qur’an.   Along with Qur’an memorization, MSI Hifz also focuses on instilling in the students the prophetic lifestyle and teachings. Students daily have a class of Islamic studies that concentrate on a variety of subjects. By providing Qur’anic education in an environment of ta’lim and tarbiyyah, the program prepares the students to be role models for the youth of our community. MSI currently has a class for boys and will commence the girls’ hifz class in the beginning of 2018. MSI After-School Hifz program is designed for students who attend regular day-school, and wish to memorize the Qur’an. This program is designed for two types of students:

  1. Those who wish the start the memorization of the Qur’an. Concentration will be given on memorization of a maximum of 5 juz (paras). Upon successful completion of 5 juz, the student will be encouraged to enroll in the full-time hifz program at MSI. To maintain quality of memorization, the program will not allow students to proceed beyond 5 juz.
  2. Those who have completed the memorization of the Qur’an and wish to revise their hifz. This will allow students to retain what they have memorized on a continuous basis. Those who have memorized more than 5 but less than 30 may enroll, however, no new lessons will be provided.

The greatest miracle granted by Allah (SWT) to our beloved Prophet (SAW) is the Holy Quran. It is a guarantee from Allah (SWT) that the Holy Quran will be preserved in its exact format from its revelation to the end of time. So, in today’s world of technology and science, should a catastrophic event of global proportions occur that all records known to man, digital or otherwise, gets wiped away, the Holy Quran will survive unaltered as long as a Hafiz of the Quran survives the calamity. In other words, enrolling our children in a Hifz program to memorize the whole of the Quran is the method chosen by Allah (SWT) of preserving the miracle of the Quran.

Turning our children into Huffaz is not an easy feat by any means. A lot of effort, resources, and dedication is needed not just by the one learning the Quran, but also by his/her parents. Mu’aadh al-Juhani narrates that the Prophet (SAW) said: ‘Whosoever recites the Quran and practices upon its injunctions, the reciter’s parents will be given a crown on the day of Qiyaamat. The brightness of that crown will be more intense than the brightness of the sun in your actual house.’

Keeping the needs of the community in mind, MSI established a full time Hifz program in 2006. Boys between the ages of 8 and 18 years are enrolled in the program throughout the year. The program is overseen by Brother Shabbir Hassan and the students are under the guidance of Maulana and Hafiz Adnaan Waseem and Hafiz Mukarram. A typical student graduates in 3 years. As of 2015, 31 students out of 131 have graduated as fully capable Huffaz.  Currently around 20 more students are enrolled in the program.

School timings are from 8:30 to 4:30 Monday through Friday. The monthly fees is $250. Financial assistance is available on a limited basis to those who would otherwise be unable to enroll their kids in the program.
